Hi guys, I really need your help for this simple maths question.

Some money is shared between Ali, Ben and Carl in the ratio 5:3:2.
Ben receives $60.
How much money is shared?

Answer should be: 200
Thanks a lot :)

Answer :

Answer is 100:60:40

5:3:2

60/3= 20

20x5= 100
20x2= 40

Ali:Ben:Carl
100:60:40= 200

The amount shared = $200

let

x = The total money shared

The money was shared between Ali, Ben and Carl in the ratio 5 : 3 : 2 .

Ben receives $60

The ratio of Ben to the amount shared = 3 : 10

Therefore,

60 = 3 / 10 × x

cross multiply

600 = 3x

divide both sides by 3

x = 600 / 3

x  = $200

Amount shared = $200
