Answer :
Some people underestimate the negative influence vandalism has on society. It can be defined as ¨action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property¨. The meaning is clear and direct, and let us know the obvious, it´s clearly a bad action, that harms the whole community in general.
We all were once a teenager, and it´s clear is a ¨complicated¨ part of the life, plenty of different intense sensations and feelings that provokes volatile reactions. A key point is that the average teen its easily influenced by his friends, that influence sometimes is negative, and shameful events like disturbs or vandalism happens.
The majority of vandalism cases are made for ¨not dangerous¨ teens, since one of the main reasons of such actions are that are caused by the desire to express themselves and be noticed , so there is not an evil finality with the action per se, just a way (0bviously a really bad one) to stand out between the crown, in the other hand, we can´t justify the single fact that it´s allowed to destroy property or public installations, just because determined person was ¨expressing itself¨¨
Since we are little kids before the teen ¨Stage¨ starts, we already know what is good and what is bad, even if in a determined home are not taught morals and values, our common sense let us know the consequences of different actions, based on this at the moment when a teen or other person starts to vandalizes, clearly is knowing that is breaking the law, that is prejudicing his entourage, and other people.
The mildness of some ¨punishments¨ generally don´t correct the negative conduct in the teen, that once made the reproachable action the first time, and is not corrected properly, it´s practically a fact that a same or worse offense would be committed again. Based on this, like other felonies of determined importance, would be needed to be ¨corrected¨ in a way the teens start to see the serious impact of his actions, for themselves, other members of the community, and private and public goods.
Personally, I´m more in the ¨community service¨ part, intense, long and hard-worked service shifts, helping the community (directly making them amend the previous damage occasioned) and obligatory assistance to ¨conduct groups¨, be conscientious about the importance of the respect to the public resources and people.
Nothing raises awareness more in a person that an unpaid hard-worked long day of labor, and more if the work is totally related to the offense committed. In a teen this measure has an important impact since they are normally considered as ¨lazy workers¨ and be or stay in a work-related place, is not a satisfactory experience.
