He led Frankish and Burgundian forces in a battle known as "The battle
of Tours". This battle resulted in the death of the Islamic leader Abdul
Rahman Al Ghafiqi. This in turn prevented the further expansion of the
Islamic power base from Spain moving into other parts of Europe.
