The lengths of the sides of an 5m by 5m square are increased by 3m. The area of the square has increased by what percent? Please answer and explain. Thanks! :)

Answer :

Well you first have to find the area of the first square so do 5 times 5 which equals 25. Then you have to add 3 to 5 which is 8, so each side equals 8 meters. Next time 8 by 8 which equals 64, then do 64-25 which equals 39. Then put the change over original so do 39 divided by 25 which equals your percent of change 1.56 or 156% increase.
