the slope is :   (YB - YA)/(XB -XA)
(4+3)/(5+3)  =7/8
an equation is : y=ax+b     a is a slope

y = (7/8)x +b

 

the line through point  (5,4) :  4 = (7/8)(5)+b
b = - 3/8
the equation is : y =(7/8)x- 3/8
