The theme is the quest for identity. As she tries to find out who she is and where she belongs. However, as she does this she finds out that she is a ruler of a far off country which is in almost every case not probable. This shows the viewers the wrong message as it changes her to look "prettier" and that the way she already acts isn't perfect like the way you want people to see you as. She ends up changing for her grandmother and for the rest of the country to like her more as a person, which is portraying the message to change to young vulnerable adolescents
